| About the Product :
Drum Dryers belong to that category of conduction dryers ( indirect dryers ) that provide large surface area for drying in quick time. The source of heat energy is provided by steam ( usually at pressures between 3 and 7 bars(g) ). The charge is in liquid state and the dried product collected usually carries 8% to 12% moisture. The dryer consists of a hollow drum through which steam is passed. The drum’s outer surface dips into the charge while rotating at a slow rpm. By the time the drum completes 80% of a revolution, the heat from steam dries the wet charge, leaving behind a thin layer of the product on the outer surface of the rotating drum which is scraped off and conveyed to a collection bin or bag as deemed appropriate.
These dryers are offered in single-drum as well as twin-drum configurations.
Typically products that are in dilute or dissolved state initially, or are pasty, are good candidates for such drying methods. Examples : Calcium Carbonate Ppt., Yeast, Gelatins, Potato Starch, certain grades of Food Products etc.
ALPEN Drum Dryers are offered in sizes ranging between 1’ Ø x 1’ long and 5’ Ø x 10’ long.
MOC offered in SS 304, SS 316 and Carbon Steel.
